The story of the country’s political and economic ruin
Attempts by Pakistan’s political and military leadership to protect personal and institutional interests have given rise to unrest and unease among the public in the Country. Due to nepotism and corruption, crucial decisions have been made for the benefit of specific individuals or groups rather than in the national interest, sidelining the principles of justice and democracy. This situation has not only negatively impacted the lives of ordinary people but has also destabilized the economy, leading to a reduction in employment opportunities, inflation, and increased social degradation.
Generals like Raheel Sharif, General Bajwa, and other military officers have used their powers to intervene in political affairs, both directly and indirectly. This intervention has sometimes manifested in changes of government and other times in support or opposition to political leaders. These actions have led to political instability and strengthened the establishment’s grip on political leadership. Imran Khan’s rise to power and subsequent distancing from the establishment further fueled political and public turmoil in the country.
Various politicians and institutions have tried to exploit the growing public discontent for their own gain. After distancing himself from the establishment, Imran Khan portrayed himself as a revolutionary leader and regained popularity among the public, despite initially coming to power with the establishment’s support.
The judiciary also came under pressure, with some judges making decisions that seemed to favor controlling the political environment rather than serving the national interest. Figures like General Asim Munir and Justice Qazi Faez Isa, known for their integrity and capability, were also entangled in political conspiracies, facing baseless allegations that impacted the course of justice.
In this overall situation, the dream of Pakistan’s progress is becoming increasingly blurred. To change this scenario, it is essential to promote transparency, institutional independence, and the rule of law in the country. Only then can Pakistan emerge from this crisis and pave the way for a stable and prosperous future.
