Do not drink alcohol as it is the key to all evils

Alkohol is regarded as extremely harmful and dangerous in Islam. The strict prohibition on drinking alcohol exists because it dulls a person’s intellect and consciousness, causing them to lose their ability to distinguish between right and wrong. The Qur’an and Hadith both extensively describe the harms and prohibition of alcohol.

In the Qur’an, in Surah Al-Ma’idah, verse 90, there is a clear command that alcohol, gambling, idol worship, and divination are all acts of filth from the deeds of Satan, and one must avoid them. Allah has declared these actions as “Rijs” (impure and dirty acts), which is why it is obligatory for Muslims to stay away from alcohol consumption.

Similarly, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) described alcohol as “the key to all evil” because it leads a person toward other sins. In a state of intoxication, a person’s judgment becomes uncontrollable and reckless, often resulting in acts they would never commit in a sober state.

Muslim scholars and spiritual leaders have always emphasized abstaining from alcohol and highlighted its harms. May Allah grant us the ability to avoid alcohol and other forbidden things, and guide us on the straight path. Ameen.
