Poverty
Poverty is not just an economic hardship; its effects extend far beyond financial struggles, deeply impacting a person’s mental, physical, and emotional well-being. Those living in poverty often experience anxiety, despair, and helplessness. They endure daily deprivations and difficulties, such as lack of adequate food, limited access to quality education, and healthcare services.
Poverty has the most devastating effect on children. They are deprived of play, education, and the opportunity to dream of a better future. Many of these children are forced to work at a young age to support their families. Their innocence and childhood are sacrificed at the altar of poverty.
Moreover, poverty isolates a person from the fabric of society. People living in poverty are often looked down upon by others, leading them to suffer from feelings of inferiority and social isolation. They are frequently unaware of their rights, or they lack the resources to improve their condition.
The reality of poverty is that it involves not just a lack of money, but also a loss of opportunities, dignity, and the dream of a better future. Living in poverty means fighting every day for basic needs, and this battle often feels never-ending.
Being poor is not a sin, but it is a tragedy of this world that, despite an abundance of wealth, millions are still trapped in the clutches of poverty. It is essential that, as a society, we help these individuals and take effective steps toward eradicating poverty, so that everyone has the right to live a dignified and prosperous life.
