Humility is the true adornment of a person, while arrogance is their greatest weakness. A humble person not only considers others as equals but also remains bowed before the Almighty Lord. Such a person sees their successes not as personal achievements but as the grace of Allah, the Most High. That is why in the Holy Qur’an, Allah commands: وَلَا تُصَعِّرْ خَدَّكَ لِلنَّاسِ وَلَا تَمْشِ فِي الْأَرْضِ مَرَحًا ۖ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّكُلَّ مُخْتَالٍ فَخُورٍ „And do not turn your face away from people in arrogance, nor walk proudly upon the earth. Indeed, Allah does not like the arrogant and boastful.”(Surah Luqman, Verse 18)
The essence of the life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is also rooted in humility. He ﷺ never considered himself superior, and he once said:“I am not a king; I am merely a servant.” Imam Ali (peace be upon him) said: „Whoever adopts humility, Allah elevates him.”
Therefore, always consider yourself lower, for it is possible that the one you see as insignificant may be more beloved to Allah than you. Humility wins hearts, while arrogance leads to isolation, downfall, and the displeasure of the Lord.
