The leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) envisions the entire South Asian region as a unified territory under the concept of “Akhand Bharat” (Undivided India). This ideology is essentially expansionist in nature, under which India views its neighboring countries—such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Burma (Myanmar), and Afghanistan—as part of its historical sphere of influence.
A significant number of Indian scholars are present in major American universities, forming a powerful Indian lobby. This lobby is reportedly backed by the Israeli lobby. These circles have started promoting a narrative that suggests only a strong India can counter China’s influence, and the only path to a powerful India lies in realizing the dream of Akhand Bharat.
It is claimed that the partition of the subcontinent was a conspiracy by colonial powers, and that historically, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Burma, and Afghanistan were all parts of India. However, the truth is that “Akhand Bharat” is merely an ideological myth with no strong historical foundation.
There is growing concern in American diplomatic circles that India is attempting to take advantage of the tensions between China and the United States to ideologically promote its expansionist ambitions within the U.S. This ideology poses a significant threat not only to Pakistan but also to the sovereignty and security of all other smaller nations in the region.
Although this ideology has not yet gained widespread acceptance in the U.S., Pakistan should work with other regional countries to develop a joint strategy to effectively counter the potential threats posed by this narrative. Otherwise, this narrative could potentially steer the world toward nuclear confrontation.
