Spending in the way of Allah (Infaq fi Sabeelillah)

Helping the poor and needy, and treating them with kindness are fundamental teachings of Islam. This practice nurtures humility, modesty, and compassion in a person, which in turn leads to the pleasure and blessings of Allah. When a person spends their wealth and resources in the way of Allah, they are protected from selfishness and pride, which are satanic temptations. The virtue of generosity and hospitality is not only an individual act of goodness but also a means of societal welfare. Inviting the poor to sit with you and respecting them is not only a way to help them but also a means of establishing strong social bonds, promoting equality and justice within the society.

In Islam, spending in the way of Allah and helping the needy is of great importance, and through this act, a person attains spiritual peace. The meaning of a hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is that where there are poor, orphans, and the needy, the mercy of Allah descends upon them. Allah says in the Quran: “The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed of grain that sprouts seven ears; in every ear is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills, and Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.” (Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 261).

Therefore, when a person helps others, he brings blessings and prosperity into his own life and remain protected from the whispers of Satan and evil deeds. Consequently, by helping others and showing kindness, a person attains true happiness and spiritual satisfaction, something that cannot be achieved through worldly wealth alone.
